Repairs and tune-ups

Bike maintenance

Practical answers about the bikes we service, how to book and what to expect at the workshop.

5 questions

We work on all types of bikes, whether electric or regular: cargo bikes, tandems, tricycles and even unicycles. We do not repair electric scooters.

Yes. We maintain and repair both regular and electric bikes. You can book an appointment or come directly to the workshop for a quick assessment.

We guarantee parts availability and expertise only for e-bikes sold or electrified by Nouveau Cycle.

An appointment is recommended so we can plan the work properly, but you can also stop by the workshop for an initial assessment. We will then guide you toward the right package or service based on your bike's condition.

We offer several tune-up packages, from essential maintenance to a more complete overhaul with deeper cleaning, adjustments and component work based on your bike's needs. Discover our tune-up services.

Compatibility, range, usage

Electric conversion

The things we most often explain about electrification, batteries and how a bike behaves once converted.

8 questions

Many bikes can be converted into e-bikes, but conversion is not always possible or practical. The frame must be in good condition and the bike must suit the intended use. We will be happy to advise you on the best solution for your needs.

Yes. A converted bike can be used without electric assist. The motor is designed to be as discreet as possible and does not interfere with the bike's normal operation. It can be switched off so the bike rides like a regular bike.

Range depends on the battery capacity and the assist level you use. A converted e-bike can typically cover 40 to 100 km. We will help you choose the right setup for your needs.

The motors sold and installed by Nouveau Cycle have a nominal power of 500 W, the maximum allowed by Quebec road rules. Maximum torque depends on the model and can reach up to 120 Nm.

No. The conversion is reversible. The motor and battery can be removed, and the bike can be used as a regular bike. If you eventually want to sell your bike or move the system to another compatible bike, the electrification can be removed.

The system installed by Nouveau Cycle does not use regenerative braking. Regenerative systems add pedaling resistance and cost more. We keep up with new technologies and adjust our product lineup to offer the best options to our customers.

A full charge takes about 5 hours.

The power required is proportional to the total weight. With a heavy load, your motor may work harder than you do. It is important to use a low gear when climbing hills.
